Gavin Moynihan is seven shots off the lead in the Swedish Challenge hosted by Robert Karlsson

Ranked 18th in the Road to Oman — the top 15 win cards at the end of the season — the Mount Wolseley professional added a one-under 71 to his opening 68 to share 17th on five-under.

He’s just one stroke outside the top 10 and seven behind Spain’s Pedro Oriol, who shot a 68 to lead by two strokes on 12-under par from England’s Jack Senior (63) and tournament host Karlsson (65).

“I played pretty good,” said Oriol, who currently sits in 15th place in the Road to Oman Rankings.

“I didn’t play the par fives as well as yesterday – I only made one birdie – but everything in my game was working well again.

“I think the wind was very different today. It was blowing in the opposite direction, and that definitely made things trickier.

“After the first two days, I am feeling confident and just need to stay focused on my game and trust myself as I have done really well so far.

“I would love to play with Robert over the weekend. It would be the perfect situation as there will be lots of people watching us – and I enjoy playing in that environment.”

Ardglass’ Cormac Sharvin in tied 38th on three under after a 70 but Kevin Phelan missed the cut by two shots after a second successive 72.
